She brought together both worlds and helped bring Tejano music to the forefront. She was a rising star who's tragic death threw it into turmoil. It is also the case with a talented, charismatic young performer dies too soon and is buried, many mourned the greatness she was yet to achieve. Fans have struggled through the years to preserve her legacy. Her tragic death in a shooting triggered a response in the Latino Community that was comparable as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a wildly popular singer among Latinos in North America. But her music was a hit with both the young and old. Selena was a sexy glamorous performer on stage and was often referred to by her as the Latina Madonna.
